IN JUST 3 MINUTES, a church, school, or community organization can change eternity for children and families for generations to come.
CHURCHES: During the main church service, all a church has to do is PRESS PLAY to help end the foster care crisis in their county.
SCHOOLS / COMMUNITY GROUPS: PRESS PLAY during a gathering where the most people are in attendance (workers, parents, members, leadership, etc.).
#Take3SetKidsFree is an innovative awareness campaign. If you cannot find an answer to your question(s), please e-mail grace@everydayjesus.church. You can also text or call Grace Daley: 352-400-8934.
ZERO DOLLARS. The #Take3SetKidsFree campaign is not a financial campaign to raise money. It’s a grassroots movement to raise up an army of volunteers who want to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It invites people to join the fight for our children by using their own time and resources.
STATISTICS, SOLUTIONS, and SCRIPTURE (for faith-based organizations) are highly effective in getting the attention of the audience. Here is some helpful information:
STATISTICS:
Every year, over 20,000 youth age out of foster care. Among them...
• 20% become instantly homeless.
• 60% of males have been convicted of a crime.
• 60% of the females will be lured into sex trafficking
• 70% of young women become pregnant before 21
• 80% of the males will be incarcerated
• Less than 3% earn a 4-year college degree.
Many of our homeless neighbors, incarcerated individuals, and victims rescued from sex trafficking have spent time in foster care.
SOLUTIONS: Our video provides diverse ways members of the community can help, including mentoring, fostering, providing resources, and preventing foster care. "Some can do more than others, but all can do something."
SCRIPTURE: The Bible is replete with mandates to care for the vulnerable. Here are a few examples: James 1:27, Deuteronomy 10:18, Psalm 82:3, Isaiah 1:17, Matthew 25:40, Galatians 6:2, and Isaiah 58 - The entire chapter addresses justice and freedom, provision and compassion, and the guidance, protection, and blessings God's people experience when they act justly.
In the last 90 seconds of the video, church, school, and community members are given diverse real-time opportunities to LEARN MORE about how to help end the foster crisis in their county by scanning the QR code displayed and filling out this survey: DO SOMETHING
Local agencies, who have been doing this work faithfully for years, will follow up and reach out to church or community members to help them learn more and take next steps if they desire. LOOK BELOW THE FAQS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT EACH PARTICIPATING AGENCY.
PERSPECTIVE: In Marion County, there are currently over 700 children in out-of-home care. Each month, around 20 children are removed from their homes. The longer churches wait to DO SOMETHING, the more trauma these children experience.
Research shows that having one supportive adult in a child's life can greatly lessen the impact of traumatic childhood events. The sooner we intervene, the better.
It can be easily done. The CHURCH OF HOPE (in Ocala) did everything they normally do the Sunday they participated. They actually took the time to play the 10 minute version of this video after their normal worship segment. God did the rest.
In the few minutes (while the video was playing), they got FIFTY real-time responses from church members who want to join the fight for our kids. After the video, they continued their service as usual.
Any group can take 3 minutes join the fight for our kids and then continue their regularly scheduled programming.
The time to join the fight for our children is now. The longer children stay in foster care, the more likely it becomes that they will age out (turn 18 without being adopted).
REMINDER: Each year, over 20,000 youth in America age out.
It is highly unlikely that members of a Bible-believing church or community members would turn a blind eye to such a critical need once they are made aware of it. In fact, church members are often eager to live out the Bible’s mandates (especially when it comes to caring for the vulnerable), and communities care about their children. At the very least, the video will raise awareness. However, our experience has consistently revealed that the Church and community are ready and waiting to join the fight for our kids.
"Ask not what the church can do for the children. Opportunities abound. Ask what the children can do for the church." - Grace Daley
Helping these children will help us inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 25:34-40 - “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”
"Some can do more than others, but all can DO SOMETHING." (EGW)
Through CAREPORTAL, volunteers can PROVIDE RESOURCES to prevent a child from entering foster care, to support children in foster care, to help make an adoptive placement, and help support youth aging out of foster care.
BETTER TOGETHER prevents the need for foster care by empowering parents to thrive. Volunteer host families welcome children into their home short term, while mentors, job coaches and resource volunteers support the parents as they work toward stability.
Through A DOOR OF HOPE, Church members can learn how to become FOSTER PARENTS. Their mission is to provide a Christian home for every child.
Through KIDS CENTRAL, INC., people can choose learn how to FOSTER or ADOPT a child and provide them with a forever home.
Through the statewide GUARDIAN AD LITEM OFFICE, Individuals can MENTOR A CHILD who is in the foster care system.
They can also BE AN ADVOCATE and represent Florida’s abused, neglected, and abandoned children in court and in the community.
